As the man with glasses walked down his lonesome road, he was brought to an absolute standstill with a sudden explosion of a magnificent light came from nearby. Debris covered in flame rained over the next few blocks, littering the streets and slowly but surely to light other houses on fire given some of the debris would find itself on flammable material and almost instantaneously light up blankets, curtains; whatever could be found around. Such a dry environment was sure to spark up even further, buildings would soon begin to burn to the ground.
Looking over to the explosion, the strange man slowly pulled up the recent corpse he had been carrying around, his hand still embedded in its skull. It was done with such ease and perhaps with too much power that the neck twisted and snapped, with the body strung sideways against the otherwise lively man's own as the head rested level with his abdomen. His left hand reached around and grabbed the other side of the large cleft in this corpse's face before his hands grew taut and began to pull.
With little to no effort, the skull suddnly split completely, only attached to the body by the thin skin that still held onto the dome. The brain from within spilled out, it itself was in a similar situation as it only hung by its stem now as its mess just freely hung about. The man with glasses picked at this brain and tore it from its stem, releasing the body in doing so as he let it slam into the ground with a sickening crunch as the batter skull couldn't take much more.
"A setback in plans?,.. Oh well, I guess this just makes things harder," said the strange man as seven other shadows suddenly dropped from the sky and to the ground, kneeling before this macabre individual as he pulled and tore at the brain.
"Captain Kuramaru! What should we do?" Gasped one of the seven around Kuramura.
"Diverge from here, round the 1st platoon back up and fallback to the old quarters; ASAP."
Kuramaru's subordinates dispersed quickly, they had gone as quick as they had come. Kuramaru dropped the mangled brains, his hands and the edges of his cuffs were now all completely dripping with blood as he turned around and leisurely walked down the street he had come from, knowing well that soon the troops of Suna would come in with the screaming siren that blared about.
Here in the old quarters, unlike the residential area they had been sweeping out just before: The soldiers had a home-field advantage. For the time they had stayed here as simple vagrants, they learned the in's-and-out's of this place. For most others living well off, especially the shinobi of Suna; they probably knew little of the mapping or layout of the place given its confusing building structures, the choking streets below; etc.
Kuramaru was one such person who understood this place, unbeknownst to some he was a tactician of sorts, beyond the hidden techniques he; his rank and value among the mercenaries was higher up also because of this mindset.
As he walked down the small streets of the old quarters, 130 men under his direct command began to filter into the area as well. After a short amount of time most were within the area, specifically in a small square before a shoddy platform that had been erected during the encampment of these mercenaries.
Standing high above the others now, Kuramaru boomed, "As you may have seen, we have come across some difficulties most recently. Because Suna's troops are on their way, I'll have to keep this short. I want 32 men to each direction of here, set up barrier method formation jutsu in order to help stagnate any who would try and trespass into our little abode. From there, I want you 4 squads to hold out on your own against whatever forces you may come against. Know to use these abandoned buildings to your advantage, spook them with jutsu, smoke bombs; etc. They'll become split apart in our little labryinth and from there: We'll crush them.
Do not rush this, otherwise we may all simply die. Not only will that be a loss of life, but also no money. We all have our reasons to be here, and if we want to get out of here to fulfill those goals of ours: You will have to follow my each and every command. Move out!"
Soldiers began to pour out from the old quarters, moving to every cardinal direction in an estimate of 32 as said before.. From there, many would begin setting up many barrier method formations simply using explosive tags. These tags were mostly hidden, laying just behind corners or within the buildings themselves; altogether still forming the square necessary for the jutsu to work. These were positioned in all major streets that led in and out of the old quarters, where it'd be most likely for the vast amount of Suna shinobi would go through first.
Depending on who all walked through these basic traps, there'd be more from where that came from in a brave attempt to dispel the battalions, or at least force them from the old quarters.
